ENTRY INTO SERBIA

One important remark we need to point out, as stupid as it may sound to most people:
- You do need to have a valid passport with you to enter Serbia
- Serbia is not part of the Schengen zone
- Serbia does not require visas from citizens of most of the European countries

We have witnessed that some artists and friends have been coming to the border with no passport in the past and had been rejected entry, so there is a need to address that, as silly as it may seem.

FLIGHTS

If you want to fly to Belgrade directly, check your local airline company (almost all major European airline companies fly to Belgrade - Swiss, Lufthansa, AirFrance...). Serbia's airline company is JAT Airways (www.jat.com), with daily direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Athens, Copenhagen, Stockholm... If you need to fly with a connectiing flight, best options are Austrian Airways (Vienna), Swiss (Zurich) and Lufthansa (Munich, Frankfurt...).

The Belgrade Airport is called Nikola Tesla (airport code BEG) www.airport-belgrade.co.yu

Since there are no low-cost companies flying to Belgrade, you can try several low-cost options to Budapest, and then take a train to Belgrade (7 hours, return tickets from 30 eur upwards). You can try the same with Timisoara (2 hours) and Zagreb (5 hours). From Budapest you can also schedule a direct van transport from-to airport with Gea Tours, return ride is 70 EUR, one-way 40 EUR.

The taxi from the airport to anywhere in the center should not cost more than 10 EUR, so do ask before accepting the ride. There are also two buses, the JAT company's one (2,5 EUR) and public transport bus for less than 1 EUR. You can find the timetables in front of the airport's Terminal 1. The duration of the ride from the airport to the city centre is about 35 min with a bus, 20 min by taxi.

TRAINS / BUSES

You can reach Belgrade by train if you go via Vienna, Budapest or Zagreb from the north, or Skopje and Sofia from the south and east... The ride from Zagreb is around 7 hours (2 hours less by bus), and from Budapest it is of similar length.

CURRENCY

Note that 1 EUR is approx 93 RSD, and you can check the changes at www.kursna-lista.com

There is quite a lot official exchange offices around the city centre (working hours 8 AM - 7 PM), as well as ATMs. Hotel "Slavija" at Slavija Square has an exchange office which is open till 10 PM as well as on Sundays.
